Overdentures snap onto dental implants so they stay in place until you take them out

what is an implant overdenture?

An implant overdenture, sometimes called an implant retained denture or a snap-on,  is a type of denture that snaps into place on dental implants. These dentures can be removed by the patient to clean or when they’re sleeping.

Before and after overdentures

Compared to traditional dentures, overdentures are stable and a lot more functional, so you can live life normally.

This is an All-on-4 dental implant procedure with an overdenture secured to the implants.

how are they different from other types of dentures?

Fixed implant supported denture

Fixed implant supported dentures are what you get with a full-mouth restoration such as All-on-4. This denture attaches to the implants like an overdenture, but in this case remains permanently attached.

Fixed dentures are cleaned just as you would natural teeth.

traditional denture

Traditional dentures sit directly on the gums and are held in place by natural suction or dental adhesives.

Traditional dentures are not stable and not very functional.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are the primary difference between an overdenture and a traditional denture. Your overdenture snaps on to the implants which is how it remains firmly in place.
